Reduce the shock generated by stretch film
A sizeable amount of static electricity is generated by stretch film, especially during winter months. And, while static electricity is not necessarily a major safety issue, the zap can be intense. Yet stopping the shock is not only easily preventable, it’s also relatively inexpensive.
Stretch wrapper manufacturer Orion Packaging offers an option to combat the combination of cold dry weather and static electricity generated by stretch film – the solution is the anti-static cord. This low-cost add-on installs easily, in just a few steps.
Here’s how:
Installation of Anti-Static Kits
When installing the anti-static cord, open the film carriage and attach one magnet on the top roller holder. Move the stretch film so the cord can be placed behind the film and attach the other magnet to the bottom roller holder. lose the film carriage and position the cord so it is 1/8″ from the film. This allows the film to run in front of the cord to reduce static electricity. It’s that simple. Refer to the photos below for correct installation.
